Music for the Eye

Flowfazer“What’s that on your iPhone?”

“Flowfazer.”

“What?”

“Flowfazer.”

“. . .”

“What is it? A screensaver or something?”

“You don’t need a screensaver for your iPhone. But, yeah, it was a screensaver when it first came out.”

“First came out? When was that?”

“1990.”

“Huh?”

“1990.”

“That long ago?”

“Yeah.”

“. . .”

“Dude, your screensaver is older than we are.”

“It’s not a screensaver. It’s an app. Todd Rundgren and David Levine wrote it.”

“Todd Rundgren? You mean the Hello It’s Me guy?”

“Yeah.”

“. . .”

“Can you make it do stuff?”

“Yeah, well… you can change the colors and the patterns. They have names like Birdbath, and Chakra, and Flab, and Creamsicle, and…”

“That’s what it does?”

“Yeah.”

“. . .”

“Is it a game?”

“No.”

“Is it a puzzle?”

“No.”

“Can you play it?”

“You look at it.”

” That’s what it does?”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“. . .”

“Doesn’t it play music or anything?”

“Dude. It’s music for the eye.”

Flowfazer is 99¢ at the App Store.
