Third Man Records as iPhone cases?

Third Man Records case for iPhone by Griffin TechnologyWe’ve partnered with Third Man Records to create original iPhone 4S cases from genuine 7″ vinyl records. Check out the custom inserts with records by The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. You won’t find a more rocking case!

To create the Griffin and Third Man Records Case for iPhone 4S, we incorporated a genuine 7″ vinyl record, pressed by United Record Pressing,  then die-cut to form the protective back of the case. A molded frame snaps around the iPhone, holding the record insert in place and protecting the controls, edges, and screen, with cutouts for volume, headphone, hold switch and dock connector.

The Third Man 45 iPhone Case is available in three different variations, with a yellow, black or white frame that includes a black vinyl record back featuring a Third Man Records printed label. The packet of 3 interchangeable vinyl record inserts is also available separately, inspired by Third Man Records recording artists, and includes:

  • 1 white vinyl record back, cut from The White Stripes’ “Candy Cane Children” single.
  • 1 black vinyl record back, cut from The Raconteurs’ “Steady, As She Goes” single, from their first album, Broken Boy Soldiers. These Raconteurs inserts represent the first pressing of this single, soon to be available as a reissue from Third Man.
  • 1 yellow vinyl record back, cut from The Dead Weather single “Treat Me Like Your Mother,” from their first album, Horehound.

The third man records cases are amazing looking. I have one question, though, wouldn’t a piece of vinyl as hard as a record scratch up the back of your iPhone? Or is the device facing side of the insert padded/cushioned in some way?

The case frame snaps around the iPhone, holding the vinyl insert in place over the back of the phone.
    Thanks Seth.

Ah. So there is some space between the vinyl insert and the phone back, then?

The frame of the case holds the vinyl snuggly against the back of your iPhone.

    Thanks Seth.

Nah. That’s ok. I don’t even have an iPhone yet, but this is by far the coolest case I have ever seen. So when I get and iPhone, I was just making sure I don’t scratch up the phone for the sake of an awesome case.

I can understand that concern Seth. We’ve been around since 1992, long before the iOS devices. We take great care in the functionality of
    our products.
Thanks for the compliment. Which band is appealing to you most? Or are you really into vinyl in general?

Just got my case today and love it. I’m rocking the white frame and candy cane children back and it’s amazing. One question though, the frame fits so tightly that I can’t get the two pieces separated (top and bottom). Is there any easy way to get the case off?

  • http://www.griffintechnology.com/connect Dave Delaney

The bottom part should come apart when you pull it from the rest of the case. If you’re having trouble with this, please contact our support, so we can help walk you through it. Thanks.
