We use the Griffin Protection System to inform you on what kinds of conditions your Griffin case is designed to protect your device against.

We combine the most rigorous elements from U.S. Military Specifications, hardness ratings, Ingress Protection levels, third-party testing protocols, and our own internal testing standards as we design and test our cases. We manufacture our cases under rigorous quality controls. And we back them with a one-year warranty and unbelievably great customer service.

Here’s the science behind the Griffin Protection System:

Drop-tested levels

Drops

6’ onto concrete
5’ onto concrete
4’ onto concrete
3’ onto concrete

Real-Life examples: Drops from your pocket, drops in the middle of a phone call, drops as you unlock your car, drops from a ladder, no matter how careful you are, drops happen.

Our test: Following Military Spec. 810-G testing standards, the case is dropped repeatedly from the stated height onto flat concrete. To pass, the case must remain assembled and the device in it must show no damage and function as normal.

the elements

Rain

From 4”/hr downpours, in 40 MPH wind.

Our test: Following Military Spec. 810-G testing standards, the case’s front (screen) face is exposed to up to 40 MPH winds with rain droplets 0.5 mm to 4.5 mm at a rate of 4” per hour. To pass, the case must remain assembled and the device in it must show no damage and function as normal.

The elements

Dirt and Sand

From a 40-mph sandstorm for 6 hours

Real-life examples: A windy day at the beach. Sawdust on the job site.

Our test: Following Military Spec. 810-G testing standards, the case must withstand a dust composition of 97-99% silicon dioxide, blown at an air velocity of 8.9 m/s for a period of 6 hours. To pass, the case must remain assembled and the device in it must show no damage and function as normal.

Layers

Scratches

From your keys or lying facedown on a table

Real-life examples: Sliding your phone across a desk. Skidding across your dashboard as you hang a hard right. Stuffing your phone in your back pocket dozens of times a day.

Drop-tested levels

Body Damage

Everyday wear and tear to the back and sides of your smartphone.

Real-life examples: Riding around in your pocket, tossed into your bag, any of a thousand ways every day you knock your phone around.
